I had some Rust code that needed simplifying. It would have been easy enough to do manually; but I decided to see if I could use an LLM to speed up the process. I decided to use MiniMax M3.1 Flash (formerly known at the stealth model Space Bunny).
I pasted in the old code, and it spent 35 seconds refactoring the code into a single match statement. I am trying to break free of my obsession with lookup tables; they don't tend to help much and sometimes lead to code that is difficult to read.
The code that MiniMax M3.1 Flash returned to me worked correctly, and I decided just to clean it up by hand after that. There is no law against coding by hand—sometimes it is a better approach than using a model. In any case, MiniMax M3.1 saved me probably hundreds of key presses and I now have a cleaner, easier to read match statement.
