OpenAI’s ChatGPT has predicted that $XRP is likely to remain below $2 in the coming weeks after the cryptocurrency attracted nearly $30 billion in new market value within a week amid a broader crypto market rally.
The move comes after $XRP’s market capitalization surged from $62.48 billion on August 17 to $91.65 billion at press time, an increase of approximately $29.17 billion.
Over the same period, the token climbed 47% to $1.47, making it one of the strongest-performing large-cap cryptocurrencies over the past week.
The rally accelerated after $XRP broke above the $1.20 level, triggering a wave of short liquidations and renewed buying interest.
To assess where $XRP could be headed next, Finbold asked OpenAI’s ChatGPT to evaluate the cryptocurrency’s recent price action, market capitalization growth, and broader market dynamics.
According to the AI model, $XRP’s latest rally appears to have been driven by improving fundamentals, renewed investor demand, and a significant short squeeze that forced bearish traders to close positions.
ChatGPT estimated $XRP’s current fair value range at between $1.40 and $1.70, suggesting the token is trading close to its intrinsic value following the recent surge.
Under its base-case scenario, the model projects $XRP could trade around $1.90 within the next four to eight weeks, assuming spot demand remains healthy and capital continues flowing into the asset.
$XRP’s path to $2 #
According to ChatGPT, $XRP’s path toward $2 will largely depend on whether the cryptocurrency can continue attracting genuine spot-market demand rather than relying on leverage-driven speculation.
The model noted that if $XRP can expand its market capitalization beyond $120 billion without a sharp increase in derivatives activity, the probability of a move toward the $2.10 to $2.40 range would increase significantly.
However, the AI also warned that a cooling in market sentiment or a sharp unwind in leveraged positions could trigger a pullback toward the $1.15 to $1.25 region before the next leg higher.
While the broader crypto market recovery provided a supportive backdrop, asset-specific factors amplified $XRP’s rally. Market analysis indicates that falling Treasury yields, whale accumulation, and large-scale short covering helped fuel the advance.
One report on August 20 estimated that approximately $300 million in whale buying withing hours and billions of dollars in forced short covering contributed to $XRP’s rapid move from around $1 to above $1.45.
At the same time, $XRP remains well below its 2025 all-time high, leading some investors to view the asset as relatively undervalued compared to other major cryptocurrencies.
