Salesforce and Anthropic are taking their partnership a step further with Claudeforce, an expanded collaboration that brings Claude’s AI reasoning together with Salesforce’s business data, workflows and security controls.

The idea is pretty straightforward: instead of employees constantly jumping between an AI chatbot and different business applications, Claude should be able to understand a company’s data and workflows and actually help get work done, while still following the rules set by the business.

The partnership is launching with Salesforce in Claude, a new plugin built around 37 sales skills. These include preparing for meetings, reviewing the health of deals and checking sales pipelines.

The tool can work with live information from Salesforce, allowing sellers to ask Claude questions about their accounts and opportunities without manually digging through different CRM screens. It can also pull information from Slack and other connected services to create a more personalized view of a seller’s work.

Salesforce plugin goes beyond chat with interactive AI dashboards #

Salesforce says the plugin can generate interactive dashboards showing things such as accounts, pipeline data and other relevant information. That means the experience is designed to go beyond simply asking Claude a question and getting a text response.

There is also a focus on keeping companies in control of what the AI can actually do. Actions taken through Claude are routed through Salesforce, meaning existing business rules, permissions and governance controls remain in place.

Administrators only need to connect Salesforce to Claude once, with authentication and permissions managed centrally. The company says this removes the need for every employee to go through a separate setup process.

Behind the integration is AIforce, Salesforce’s framework for connecting enterprise data and workflows to AI agents through MCP servers, APIs and command-line tools. Salesforce says the system is intended to make these connections easier without requiring companies to build complicated integrations from scratch.

The partnership works in the other direction too. Claude is already being integrated into Salesforce, where it is available in Agentforce as a reasoning model for the Atlas Reasoning Engine. It also powers Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker by default and can be used through Agent Builder.

For companies with stricter security requirements, Claude is available through Amazon Bedrock within Salesforce’s Trust Boundary. That is particularly relevant for businesses in regulated industries that want to experiment with AI while maintaining tighter control over their data and AI workloads.

Claude becomes Slack’s default AI model #

Slack is another important part of the deal. Claude will serve as the default model across Slack, powering features such as Slackbot, Claude Tag and Slack Code.

The goal is to bring conversations and actual business actions closer together. For example, a team could discuss a customer or sales opportunity with Claude in Slack and then have the AI carry out an approved action in Salesforce without forcing employees to leave their existing workflow.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said the partnership combines Claude’s reasoning abilities with Salesforce’s trusted data and business systems. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei similarly argued that companies can now put Claude to work with the customer information and business context they have accumulated in Salesforce over the years.

The two companies are also customers of each other, making this more than a traditional technology partnership. Salesforce uses Anthropic’s technology, while Anthropic uses Salesforce as its preferred CRM and Slack as its preferred workplace platform.

Ultimately, Claudeforce reflects a bigger shift in enterprise software. Instead of employees manually navigating dozens of screens to get something done, Salesforce and Anthropic envision a future where people can simply tell an AI agent what they need, and the agent can reason through the task and take action within the company’s existing systems and rules.
