Oppo has confirmed the Find X10 Pro Max will launch in China on September 22 running MediaTek's new Dimensity 9600 Pro, the first mobile chip built on TSMC's 2nm N2P process, and it's aimed straight at Qualcomm's own 2nm ambitions.
Oppo confirmed this week that the Find X10 Pro Max ships in China on September 22 with ColorOS 17, an 8,000mAh battery, and something no other phone maker can currently claim: a processor built on TSMC's 2nm N2P node. That chip is the Dimensity 9600 Pro, and MediaTek says it beats its own previous generation by up to 61% on multi-core power efficiency.
The bigger number, for anyone who actually uses their phone's AI assistant, is 51%. That's how much faster the chip's dedicated AI core runs large language model prefill, the step where a model reads your prompt before it starts generating a reply, according to a report from Gizmochina on the launch. There's a second, smaller NPU too. It handles background AI tasks and cuts their power draw by 40%. MediaTek is betting flagship phones will now be judged less on raw clock speed and more on how fast they can think without draining the battery by lunch.
Under the hood, the Dimensity 9600 Pro drops MediaTek's old mix of big and small cores entirely. It runs what the company calls an All-Big-Core layout: two C2-Ultra cores clocked at 4.55GHz alongside six more performance cores, packed onto a die with more than 33 billion transistors. That's a lot of silicon. Pair that with a new G2-Ultra NX graphics unit, and MediaTek says gaming performance climbs 27% while power draw at matching output drops 24%, per specs first detailed by Nokiamob. It's also the first mobile chip to support LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage, the two components that actually determine how fast a phone opens apps and saves photos, whatever the processor benchmark claims.
MediaTek's 2nm claim needs a caveat. Samsung's own Exynos 2600 got there first, on Samsung Foundry's 2nm process, inside the Galaxy S26 earlier this year. What MediaTek actually won is the race to TSMC's 2nm node, the foundry every other major fabless chipmaker, Qualcomm and Apple included, actually wants to use. Qualcomm isn't far behind, either. Its Snapdragon Summit runs September 22 through 24, the same week as Oppo's launch, where the company is widely expected to unveil its own 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a higher-tier Gen 6 Pro variant, carrying the internal model numbers SM8950 and SM8975. The difference is simple. Qualcomm will be showing off a chip. Oppo will be selling a phone with one already inside it.

The rest of the Find X10 Pro Max reads like Oppo throwing everything it has at the top end. Three 200-megapixel cameras co-engineered with Hasselblad, the Swedish camera brand Oppo has partnered with on phones since 2021, sit on the back. The 8,000mAh battery is large enough that Oppo and MediaTek built a dedicated software layer, the Oppo Laminar Flow Engine, just to keep the phone's rendering and system scheduling from wasting that extra capacity on stutter and inefficiency, according to Android Headlines.
None of this settles the 2nm race. It just moves the starting gun. MediaTek shipped a phone. Qualcomm, for now, has a keynote.
