Salesforce is trying to back up CEO Marc Benioff’s increasingly forceful rejection of SaaSpocalypse—the idea that AI agents will make traditional enterprise software obsolete—with scalability, data protection, and hard numbers.
The number of agents created on Salesforce has increased by 72%, and the number of agentic work units—tokens used to drive a particular outcome on the platform—has increased by 90%, according to Gautam Vasudev, svp, Agentforce contact center & Salesforce Voice.
The firm didn’t share absolute numbers or the time period, but the rise in metrics gives Salesforce a new way to back Benioff’s longstanding stance defending the tech sector against Wall Street fears that companies like Anthropic (which Salesforce has a stake in) will destroy traditional SaaS business models.
