ClioCon 2026: A Quick Wrap-Up of Everything Clio Announced Today (And It’s A Lot)

Clio founder and CEO Jack Newton used his opening keynote at ClioCon 2026 in Boston to unveil a new brand identity, a redesigned platform consolidating Clio Grow, Clio Manage and Clio Work behind one login, a platform-wide AI assistant, an Agentic Workflows tool, a built-in Clio Phones system, and the acquisition of Page, an AI platform that monitors legislative and regulatory activity across the U.S. federal government and all 50 states. Newton said Clio Work, launched at last year's conference, is now used by 10,000 law firms and that Clio ships roughly 1,200 product updates a week; the conference drew more than 3,000 in-person and about 8,500 virtual attendees. Clio also acquired Jurisage for Canadian legal content and, last month, Learned Hand, which builds AI for judges and courts; Page's horizon-scanning technology will be added to Vincent over the coming months, with terms undisclosed.

Clio rolled out a ton of news today, as founder and CEO Jack Newton delivered the opening keynote at the annual ClioCon conference in Boston — from major new products and features, to a new acquisition, and even new branding. While I am too busy here for the next two days to write a detailed report, here is a quick wrap-up of today’s news.

Newton said the conference drew more than 3,000 in-person attendees, the largest ever, plus about 8,500 virtual attendees. He also said that Clio Work, launched at last year’s conference, is now used by 10,000 law firms, and that Clio deploys roughly 1,200 product updates a week.

Here is the rundown, based on press releases and Newton’s roughly 95-minute keynote, and with summarization assistance from Claude AI:

New brand identity. For the first time in its 18-year history, Clio unveiled a new logo and visual identity, replacing the original mark that incorporated a checkmark and a clock. Newton said the clear square at the center of the new logo represents “a single pane of glass” into a firm’s practice, and the ring of shapes around it represents context flowing through the platform. A redesigned clio.com launched this morning.

Redesigned platform. Clio is consolidating Clio Grow (intake), Clio Manage (practice management) and Clio Work (AI legal work) into a single interface with one login and one persistent navigation. The redesign also adds a unified inbox that puts email and text messages side by side and auto-files them to the right matter or contact, brings Clio Grow to the mobile app, and lets users record in-person client meetings from the mobile app, with the recording, transcript and AI summary saved to the matter. Rollout begins in November.

AI assistant across the platform. From anywhere in the new interface, users can ask questions or direct Clio to take action, drawing on the client and matter records, documents, communications, deadlines, research, time and billing data that user is permitted to access. Examples Newton gave include the lawyer asking what commitments she owes clients this week and having them turned into tasks, or asking whether a new lead is worth taking and having Clio run a conflict check and prepare follow-up.

Agentic Workflows. A new workflow tool lets firms describe a process in plain language, or upload an existing standard operating procedure, and have Clio build the steps, which the firm can inspect, adjust and add approval points to before enabling. Unlike trigger-based automation, Clio said, the workflow carries out the work itself: researching law, running conflict checks, performing accounting tasks, drafting documents for review. Newton’s example: a batch of medical records arrives, and Clio reads them, builds a chronology, flags gaps and routes it for attorney approval.

Clio Phones. A business phone system built into Clio, not an integration with a third-party provider. It surfaces the caller’s contact, lead or matter when a call comes in; with recording enabled, it transcribes and summarizes the call, extracts action items into tasks, and prepares a time entry, all attached to the matter. Clio cited its survey finding that lawyers lose an average of 4.6 billable hours a month to unlogged calls. Available for trial in select U.S. states, with wider availability to follow.

Acquisition of Page. Clio acquired Page, an AI platform that monitors legislative and regulatory activity across U.S. federal and all 50 state governments, including committee hearings as they happen. Its horizon-scanning technology will be added to Vincent over the coming months, with customers able to set monitoring preferences and receive daily intelligence briefings. Terms were not disclosed. Newton also said Clio acquired Jurisage, which adds Canadian legal content, and reminded the audience of last month’s acquisition of Learned Hand, which builds AI for judges and courts.

Judiciary push. Newton reiterated the earlier news that Casetext co-founder Pablo Arredondo has joined Clio as senior vice president of judiciary, and that former Michigan Supreme Court chief justice Bridget Mary McCormack has joined as general manager. He described the standard Clio is setting for its AI products as “judiciary-grade AI” — and said Clio has trademarked that phrase.

Vincent Projects. Vincent Projects provides shared workspaces in Vincent that let legal teams share and build on AI-assisted work, with conversations, documents and AI output in one place. Workspaces can be organized around a matter or a broader initiative, with permissions and activity tracking. Aimed at both law firms and corporate legal departments. Available now.

Drafting in Clio Work. A new drafting experience combines generative drafting, document automation from firm-approved templates, and a library of more than 40,000 fillable court forms across all 50 states, federal courts and USCIS, with live redlining and a full document editor. Clio for Word, the Microsoft Word add-in launched earlier this year, brings the same capabilities into Word. Available now to all U.S. Clio Work customers.

Skills, Playbooks and Visualizations. Within Clio Work, lawyers can save an analytical approach as a reusable “skill,” and firms can define “playbooks” that lay out how an entire matter type should be handled, including where the AI should stop for lawyer judgment. A new Visualizations feature builds timelines, charts, dashboards and settlement calculators from matter information, with each point linked to its source.

Documents Pro. A new full document management system built into Clio that automatically names, categorizes and files incoming documents, with version management, access controls, full-text search, and automatic transcription of audio and video recordings so they are searchable.

Clio Timekeeping. An opt-in beta that automatically captures activity as lawyers work, both within Clio and across other applications, and prepares matter-matched time entries for review. For flat-fee work, the captured time stays off the invoice but shows whether the work was priced profitably.

eFiling from Clio Work. Clio Work can now fill in the submission form on a court’s own e-filing portal using documents and matter information already in Clio, extending coverage to U.S. jurisdictions not previously integrated with Clio File. Lawyers review and submit every filing themselves.

Clio Docket. Launched earlier this year and highlighted today, Clio Docket draws on more than one billion U.S. federal and state court filings to provide a live feed on followed cases and a searchable historical record of rulings, arguments and opposing counsel.

Grow AI. An AI assistant in Clio Grow that answers inbound calls, asks a firm’s screening questions, runs conflict checks and books consultations on the firm’s calendar, including after hours. Clio said 44% of client inquiries arrive after hours. It also follows up automatically on incomplete intake forms and unsigned agreements.

Benchmarking and Insights. A new feature that compares a firm’s billable hours, utilization, realization and collection rates against aggregated, anonymized Clio data from firms of similar practice area, size and location.

Hybrid billing. Newton highlighted a feature launched a month ago that lets a firm charge a flat fee for one part of a matter and bill the rest hourly on a single invoice. He said 25% of firms billing through Clio have already adopted it.

Clio for Clients redesign. The client portal has been redesigned across web and mobile, with the ability to assign tasks to clients, show clients their matter’s stage, open the portal from Clio Grow before a client signs on, and request a review when a matter closes.

Vincent in Clio Operate. For large firms and in-house teams, Vincent is now integrated with Clio Operate. Newton cited Weightmans, Fisher Phillips, BakerHostetler and Stradley Ronon as customers, along with Minnesota’s Board of Public Defense, which chose Vincent for about 950 public defenders.

2026 Legal Trends Report. Clio’s 11th annual report projects lawyer utilization at 42% of an eight-hour day in 2026, up from 39% in 2025 — the largest single-year increase in the report’s history. Firms using Clio’s AI tools record about 8% more revenue per responsible lawyer than comparable non-adopters, rising to 10% for firms using AI in both Clio Work and Clio Manage. AI adoption stands at 85% of firms, up from 79%. Nearly one in four U.S. adults has used AI to answer a legal question, and 46% would consult AI before contacting a lawyer; 82% want to know when their lawyer uses AI.

“At the most fundamental level, we transformed the technology you relied on to keep track of your practice into a platform that can actually do the work itself and run your law firm alongside you,” Newton said during his keynote.

Next year’s ClioCon will be in Seattle, Newton said.

More to come once I have a moment to come up for air.
