The Ayala Group’s mobility unit is deploying physical charging stations along major traffic corridors while launching digital fleet management technology to support electric buses, taxis, and ride-hailing vehicles.
Through its collaboration with Basic Energy, ACMobility is building charging hubs to power public transport fleets operating under the Iwas Taas Pamasahe Transport Solutions Program. The initiative enables local operators to transition to electric buses with zero upfront costs and complete ownership after five years. To maintain fleet uptime, ACMobility is constructing dedicated charging stations along primary commuter routes that cater to both public transit and private vehicles.
“Our transition to electric mobility can only be complete if we also electrify public transport,” said Carla Buencamino, head of mobility infrastructure at ACMobility. “Through our partnership with Basic Energy, we are building an EV charging network that powers not just private vehicles but also public transportation fleets from North to South. This is at the core of ACMobility’s mission to build a comprehensive electric mobility system in the Philippines.”
The companies are opening a charging hub at the Total station on the northbound South Luzon Expressway, which will feature high-speed direct current fast chargers and alternating current units. Other planned locations include sites along EDSA, Newport City in Pasay, E. Rodriguez and Visayas Avenue in Quezon City, as well as Mandaluyong, Cainta, Marikina, and Sumulong Highway. These add to existing hubs at EcoOil Alabang and the North Luzon Expressway Total station.
“Our partnership with ACMobility is a vital component of Basic Energy’s mission to provide sustainable and accessible transport solutions for Filipinos,” said Basic Energy President and Chief Executive Officer Oscar De Venecia Jr. “The rollout of EV charging infrastructure across our Total and EcoOil network strengthens the foundation needed to support the growing shift to electric public transport.”
On the commercial side, ACMobility is supplying its ChargeFleet system to Grab Philippines for its GrabCar Electric and GrabTaxi Electric fleets. Managed through the Evro mobile application, the digital platform automates charging credits in real time without physical cards, allowing drivers to charge vehicles during shift handoffs and avoid downtime.
“By leveraging our ChargeFleet solution and expansive Philippine EV spine, we are demonstrating that commercial fleet electrification is not only viable but highly efficient,” Buencamino said. “Our goal is to serve as the ecosystem enabler that provides holistic support to both the private and public transport sectors, driving sustainable mobility across the nation.”
The Grab integration will function as a test run for broader adoption among ride-hailing and taxi operators looking to reduce operating expenses.
