HANOVER, Germany — Stellantis Pro One brought a broad selection of electric commercial vehicles to IAA Transportation 2026, with battery-electric vans and smaller urban delivery vehicles making up a substantial part of its display–a total of 13 commercial vehicles from its Citroën, Fiat Professional, Opel and Peugeot brands on its stand in Hannover.
The Fiat TRIS is one of the more unusual vehicles. It is a three-wheeled electric commercial vehicle aimed at urban deliveries and small businesses. The version displayed at IAA has an enclosed cargo box with doors, giving the driver protection from the weather and keeping the load enclosed.
TRIS can carry more than 500 kilograms and has space for two Euro pallets. Its 6.9-kilowatt-hour battery gives it a claimed range of up to 90 kilometers. It can be charged from a standard 220-volt outlet.
Stellantis offers the TRIS as a pickup, cargo vehicle, chassis cab and flatbed. The vehicle has a turning radius of 3.05 meters, which suits the tight spaces found in urban delivery work.
The company also used IAA for the global debut of its new Smart Compact Van. It will be sold through Citroën, Fiat Professional, Opel and Peugeot.
The electric version has a claimed range of up to 270 kilometers. The van has been designed with tradespeople and delivery operators in mind. The front passenger seat can be folded to create an additional 0.5 cubic meter of cargo space. It can also be configured as a mobile work area or to carry loads up to 3.4 meters long.
The Smart Compact Van will have electric, combustion and mild-hybrid versions. Stellantis plans to introduce the mild-hybrid system in 2027. Several larger electric vans are also on the stand, including the Fiat Ducato and its counterparts from the other Stellantis brands.
Among them is an electric Ducato fitted as a refrigerated van. The refrigeration equipment uses the vehicle’s high-voltage electrical system. Stellantis is also showing converted vans for specific trades, including a Peugeot Expert configured for electricians and an Opel Vivaro dropside.
Those vehicles are less spectacular than some of the large electric trucks elsewhere at IAA, but they represent the kind of applications where electric commercial vehicles are already finding a place. A delivery van that returns to the same depot every evening has a very different operating pattern from a long-haul tractor covering several hundred kilometers a day.
Stellantis is also showing its Pro One NEXT connected fleet system. The company says about 800,000 Pro One vehicles are currently connected to the system. It is designed to give fleet operators information on vehicle use and maintenance and to help manage service requirements.
The company is putting considerable emphasis on software and connected services as part of its commercial-vehicle business. For electric fleets, that includes information that operators need for charging and vehicle availability as well as routine maintenance.
The autonomous BOW, or Box-on-Wheels, is also making its debut at IAA, but it deserves a story of its own. Developed with UQI Robotics, the battery-electric vehicle is designed to operate without a driver and is being demonstrated at the show.
