Zero-native - Build desktop + mobile apps with Zig and web UI

Zero-native, a new framework for building desktop and mobile apps with Zig and web UI, has been criticized for relying on WebView bindings, with one commenter noting it is 'still just a browser in a trench coat.' The project claims to produce native binaries without a browser or JS runtime, but the use of WebKit or WebView bindings means the app shell is native while content is rendered in a web view.

It’s heavily AI developed, so I could see that they would have on their README that it is “native” and doesn’t use a browesr/js runtime while still using a webkit or webview binding.

If they are linking to webkit/webview dynamically, then technically the binary produced doesn’t have a browser/webview/js runtime. native app shell with WebView content.

Yeah, this is still just a browser in a trench coat.
