Zayo introduced an AI solution designed to embed agents in computer networking workflows.
Agentic Networking for DynamicLink aims to advance network-as-a-service (NaaS) from software-defined, self-service network control to AI agent-enabled networking.
This entails agents leveraging the DynamicLink suite’s resources to understand network conditions, while retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) ground interactions in DynamicLink’s knowledge base by retrieving external data to improve accuracy.
Agentic use cases highlighted by Zayo include establishing cloud-to-cloud connectivity, investigating network performance, coordinating multicloud connectivity, responding to unusual network activity, executing approved network changes, and extending networking into enterprise AI workflows.
The agents are introduced via a model context protocol server (MCP) and are able to access network tools and undertake authorized action. Zayo stressed the AI models work in a governed manner, responding to concerns from security experts that safety guards are essential to prevent any accidental outages should an agent take improper action.
“Together, Zayo’s network infrastructure, DynamicLink platform, networking skill, and MCP server create a capability that has not previously existed,” Zayo Chief Revenue Officer for Enterprise Chris Ranalli noted. “This combination creates a way for approved AI agents to understand what is happening across the network, access network tools, and execute authorized actions. Instead of simply asking AI questions about the network, enterprises can put AI to work on it.”
