Extreme Networks launched an agentic AI solution designed to improve network automation.
Available as part of the Extreme Platform One suite, Extreme Agent One Coworker was claimed to resolve networking issues up to 15-times faster through real-time network context and historical trend analysis to help deliver instant recommendations to “humans in the loop.”
Extreme said the agent maps connections across users, devices, applications, services, and network conditions, leveraging retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to retrieve external data and improve output accuracy.
A so-called “Nudge” workflow continuously looks out for deviations by analyzing a network's historical performance baseline alongside current traffic patterns and platform-wide behavioral trends. Another tool meanwhile continuously optimizes wireless performance by analyzing radio frequency (RF) behavior.
The firm also touted zero touch network fabric, zero trust access security, native cloud public key infrastructure (PKI), and automated enforcement with its agent and wider Platform One offering.
Extreme's tool follows hot on the heels of another AI agent release this week, Zayo's Agentic Networking for DynamicLink, which aims to advance network-as-a-service (NaaS) from software-defined, self-service network control to agent-enabled networking.
Nabil Bukhari, CTO and president of AI platforms, Extreme Networks, commented that where generic AI only has a broad understanding of networking, its agentic offering instead “understands the intricate details of your network environment.”
“That context is the difference between troubleshooting a ticket and fixing the root cause of a problem with documented analysis and recommendations. It turns insight into action and problems into resolutions at machine speed, while keeping people firmly in control. It’s not replacing expertise; it’s scaling it across the enterprise,” Bukhari said.
