iOS 27 Beta Testing Nears the Final Stage #
Apple has been steadily testing iOS 27 since it was announced at WWDC 2026. The company released the eighth developer beta on August 31, suggesting that development is now focused on fixing remaining issues, improving performance and preparing the software for wider distribution. The final update will be delivered through the iPhone's Settings > General > Software Update section once it becomes available.
Siri AI Is Among the Biggest iOS 27 Changes #
One of the headline additions in iOS 27 is an upgraded Siri with expanded AI capabilities. Apple says the assistant will be better at understanding context, interpreting information displayed on the screen and using web-based knowledge to provide more useful responses. Siri is also expected to handle certain tasks across multiple apps. Apple Intelligence is being expanded to apps including Photos, Safari, Messages, Mail and Shortcuts, while Photos gets new AI-based editing tools. iOS 27 will support a broad selection of iPhone models, although some of its most advanced AI features will require newer hardware. Apple says Apple Intelligence in iOS 27 is supported on the iPhone 16 series and newer models, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Users who want to try upcoming features before the stable version can also participate in Apple's public beta programme, but beta software can contain bugs and performance issues. The current timeline points to September 14 for the general release, but that date remains unconfirmed.
