According to multiple Taiwanese media reports, several chip design companies have recently received price hike notices from TSMC, with foundry prices for mature process nodes set to increase from January next year. Analysts say rising AI demand, product mix optimization, and higher upstream material costs have extended pricing pressure from advanced nodes to mature process technologies, driving broader foundry price increases.
Demand for TSMC’s advanced process technologies remains robust. After previously raising prices for advanced nodes such as 3nm, the company is now extending the increases to mature process nodes. Liu Pei-chen, director of the Taiwan Industry Economics Database at the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER), said persistent supply constraints for advanced nodes have prompted TSMC to reallocate production capacity, tightening supply for mature processes.
