Stripe bets that an AI world still needs middlemen

Stripe, the payments company, has acquired OpenRouter, an AI model routing platform, betting that an AI-driven world will still require intermediaries to manage payments and access to multiple AI models. The acquisition, reported by the Financial Times, positions Stripe to facilitate transactions between AI developers and users, leveraging its existing payment infrastructure.
