ServiceNow beats Q2 revenue estimates with 22% growth as Now Assist AI deals surge 70%

ServiceNow reported Q2 2026 revenue above Wall Street's $3.92 billion consensus, with CEO Bill McDermott citing nearly 70% year-over-year growth in multi-product Now Assist AI deals as evidence that enterprise AI spending has moved past the pilot stage. The company's Now Assist annual contract value reached $750 million in Q2, up from $600 million at the end of 2025, supporting its raised full-year target of $1.5 billion.

ServiceNow reported Q2 2026 revenue that cleared Wall Street's $3.92 billion consensus, with CEO Bill McDermott pointing to nearly 70% year-over-year growth in multi-product Now Assist deals as proof that enterprise AI spending has moved well past the pilot stage.

The results landed today after markets closed, and the headline number matters less than what's underneath it. ServiceNow entered Q2 carrying a $750 million Now Assist annual contract value, up from $600 million at the end of 2025. McDermott had already raised the company's full-year AI ACV target from $1 billion to $1.5 billion on the Q1 call in April, and the Q2 bookings data suggests that trajectory is holding. For a stock that's fallen roughly 47% over the past year and trades near $102, this is the quarter investors needed to see.

Frankly, the multi-product deal growth is the number that matters here. When enterprises buy Now Assist across more than one workflow simultaneously - whether IT service management, HR, or customer service - those contracts are stickier and larger than single-product deployments. A 70% year-over-year increase in that specific category isn't a rounding error. It's a structural shift in how corporate buyers are deploying AI, and ServiceNow is capturing it faster than its own targets anticipated.

The rest of the market is moving too #

ServiceNow isn't reporting in isolation. Salesforce closed more than 22,000 Agentforce deals in its Q4 fiscal 2026, reaching roughly $1.8 billion in combined ARR from Agentforce and Data Cloud, as reported by financial content providers covering the February results. That's a lot of contracts. Workday delivered 1.7 billion AI actions across its platform during fiscal 2026, per Futurumgroup's earnings coverage. SAP's cloud revenue rose 27% at constant currencies in Q1, with CEO Christian Klein flagging that large-scale enterprise AI adoption is still in early innings - and that even the biggest players expect the bulk of the spend still to come. Together, these numbers make one thing clear: the enterprise software companies that embedded AI natively into workflow platforms rather than bolting on a chatbot are seeing real commercial traction, not demo-stage interest.

That matters because the skeptic case against enterprise AI software has always rested on the idea that AI spend was concentrated at the hyperscaler layer - at Nvidia, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS - while the application layer companies were just repackaging hype. ServiceNow's Q2 punches a hole in that argument. Recurring contract value in the hundreds of millions, growing at 70% year over year in the multi-product category, is not hype. It's procurement.

What the numbers can't yet answer #

The harder question is whether $1.5 billion in Now Assist ACV by year-end is enough to reverse the stock's slide. ServiceNow's longer-term pitch, delivered at its investor day on May 4, projects $30 billion in 2030 subscription revenue, with Now Assist contributing roughly a third of that annual contract value. That's an audacious number. But the bridging math from $750 million in Q1 ACV to $1.5 billion by December does require the second half to deliver at roughly the same clip as the first. Bookings strength this quarter raises the probability. It doesn't lock it in.

There's also a question the earnings report can't fully answer: how much of this AI ACV is displacing headcount versus augmenting it. ServiceNow has been careful to frame Now Assist as an autonomous workforce tool - a platform that handles repetitive IT tickets, employee onboarding queries, and customer service flows without human intervention. If that framing holds at the customer level, the retention economics are exceptional. If customers are treating it as a productivity tool rather than a headcount lever, the renewal calculus is different. McDermott hasn't disclosed churn rates specific to Now Assist, and that omission is worth watching as the year progresses.

What the Q2 results do confirm is something investors in Salesforce, SAP, and Workday have been waiting for all earnings season: enterprise AI software budgets are real, durable, and large enough to move revenue at scale. According to IO Fund's analysis of ServiceNow's AI trajectory, the company crossed $600 million in Now Assist ACV during 2025, more than doubling year over year. That's not a rounding error either. That kind of growth rate doesn't sustain without genuine customer demand on the other end. The 22% total revenue growth confirms the core business isn't slowing to fund the AI build-out. Both lines are moving in the right direction at once.

ServiceNow's stock needed a quarter that demonstrated AI ACV isn't a metric invented to distract from slowing core growth. It got one. Whether $1.5 billion by December is enough to close a 47% gap is a different calculation, but the company has at least given investors something real to anchor to.
