The product VP behind Robinhood's AI tools and crypto expansion will discuss what modern financial consumers actually want
Robinhood has spent the last decade trying to convince Wall Street it’s more than a meme-stock casino. With a valuation now approaching $100B and a product lineup spanning investing, banking, credit, crypto, and prediction markets, the company is sending one of its longest-tenured product leaders to TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 to explain what comes next.
Abhishek Fatehpuria, Vice President of Product Management for Brokerage at Robinhood, will take the Industry Stage on October 13 in San Francisco for a session titled “Winning the Modern Financial Consumer.” The 25-minute talk is set to cover how shifting expectations around payments, investing, and money management are reshaping financial services from the ground up.
From intern to product architect #
Fatehpuria joined the company in May 2016 as an intern, back when Robinhood was primarily known for commission-free stock trading and little else. A decade later, he’s running product for the brokerage arm of a company that has ballooned into a full-stack financial platform.
Under his watch, Robinhood has rolled out increasingly ambitious product bets. The most notable recent addition is Cortex, an AI-driven assistant that’s approaching one million users. Fatehpuria has also been instrumental in developing what Robinhood calls “agentic trading tools,” essentially AI systems that can execute more complex trading strategies on behalf of users.
The $100B platform play #
Robinhood’s market valuation hovering near $100B reflects investor confidence that its transformation from a single-feature app to a diversified financial platform is working.

Prediction markets represent another frontier where Robinhood is planting flags. The company added prediction market functionality as part of its broader push to capture every form of financial engagement a modern consumer might want, from buying fractional shares to wagering on event outcomes.
What the modern consumer actually wants #
With Cortex nearing one million users, Robinhood has early evidence that retail investors will actually use AI-powered tools. The question is whether those tools drive meaningful engagement and retention, or whether they become the fintech equivalent of a chatbot nobody talks to after the first week.
The competitive landscape shifts #
TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, running October 13 to 15 at Moscone West in San Francisco, will feature over 250 sessions. The session is scheduled for October 13, 2026, from 10:25 to 10:50 a.m. PT on the Industry Stage.
