Rack View: your Kubernetes cluster as a live 3D datacenter

Lens has introduced Rack View, a feature that renders a Kubernetes cluster as a live 3D datacenter, alongside an Extension Marketplace where extensions are published to npm under the lens-extension keyword. Lens also added an in-app extension builder that sets up a project and opens it in an AI tool such as Claude Code, so a user can describe an extension and have the AI tool build it, with changes appearing in Lens without a restart. Extensions are a premium feature, and Lens warns users to install only from trusted publishers since anyone can publish to the marketplace.

Extensions

Extensions add to what Lens can do, from new views of your clusters to tools for your workflow. They are published to npm with the lens-extension keyword, and anyone can publish one, so install only extensions from publishers you trust.

Building an extension? Extension creators share what they make and help each other on the Lens Slack.

Build your own extension #

Create extensions right inside Lens, and publish them for everyone.

Describe it, and your AI tool builds it

Lens sets up the project and opens it in your AI tool, such as Claude Code. Describe the extension you want, and the AI tool builds it for you. The extension shows up in Lens right away, and every change appears as soon as it is built, with no restart.

Publish it to the Marketplace

Publish your extension to npm with the lens-extension keyword and it appears here and in the Marketplace inside Lens within minutes, where anyone can find it by name, publisher or keyword and install it with a click.

Extensions are a premium feature. Download Lens and open Extensions in the navigator to browse, install and create them.
