Separate targets for heavy and light trucks
The 100,000-unit goal applies specifically to L4 light-duty trucks, not the heavy-duty fleet. Automotive World reported that Pony.ai had operated about 200 trucks as of November 2025, had transported more than one billion tonne-kilometres of freight, and recorded Robotruck revenue of $10.2 million in the first quarter of 2026, up 31% year over year.
Pony.ai began developing autonomous trucks in 2018, initially using hand-built prototypes. Its August 6 post describes later vehicle generations as moving toward automotive-grade production through partnerships with truck manufacturers.
