OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a tailored ChatGPT Work product combining built-in financial data with GPT-6 Astra. Available to eligible financial institutions, it is designed for research, financial modeling, and customized client materials. Firms can contact OpenAI sales or their account team for access.
The product was shaped with Morgan Stanley and Evercore around investment banking and equity research. The partners identified reliable data access and high-quality artifact creation as core pain points, OpenAI says. Their input will also inform post-training, product updates, and expansion across the sector.
Premium datasets from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase cover earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals, and private companies. OpenAI hosts and indexes the data, avoiding separate contracts or connector setup while supporting lower latency and citations to specific tables and passages. In a P&L normalization example, a banker can inspect notes and reconciliations behind adjusted EBITDA, review excluded costs, and decide how to use the result in a valuation.
Institutions with existing subscriptions are set to get shared sign-in and entitlement integrations from S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva, and Moody's. Providers can recognize a ChatGPT sign-in and grant access to data the firm already licenses. More than 50 connectors include Datasite, Box, Preqin, and Intapp, and OpenAI is tuning financial-services MCP connections for reliability.
GPT-6 Astra can reason across figures, tables, and notes, trace data across periods, run analysis, and turn findings into documents, spreadsheets, slides, interactive charts, and visualizations with underlying data and sources open to review. Administrators can publish Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates through a dedicated page so valuation models, research notes, and pitchbooks follow firm formats and style guides.
The service builds on ChatGPT Enterprise controls including SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, role-based access, configurable retention, compliance-log exports, and separate workspaces for information barriers. OpenAI says business data is encrypted at rest and in transit and is not used to train its models by default. Firms can govern skills and app read or write actions by role, while OpenAI's API offers another route to specialized financial applications.
