The Dutch semiconductor giant's potential bid for edge-AI chipmaker Ambarella could reshape the autonomous driving supply chain.
NXP Semiconductors is reportedly negotiating to acquire Ambarella, a specialist in edge-AI vision processors, in a deal that would significantly bolster the Dutch chipmaker’s position in the autonomous driving market.

Ambarella has been exploring strategic alternatives, including a potential sale, since at least mid-2025. When those reports first surfaced on June 24, 2025, Ambarella’s stock surged over 20% in a single session.
