Nutanix upped the stakes against VMware with an expansion of its Dell partnership.
Dell Private Cloud now supports the latest version of Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP) on Dell PowerStore. With the integration, Dell's cloud automates deployment and lifecycle management, while Nutanix Prism delivers virtual machine-based operations.
PowerStore was touted as bringing NVMe all-flash performance and independent scaling to the Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV) with out-of-the-box Prism integration, including full deployment to operations lifecycle support via Dell Automation Platform.
Nutanix touted modern virtualization at scale for Dell users, along with a datacenter-centric cloud operating model with support for AI-ready workloads. Behind the scenes is the latest release of Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure, NCI 7.6, which is architected around agentic AI, expanded hardware flexibility, a multi-tenancy framework, and more resilient, 'modern' virtualization prowess.
The PowerStore integration follows that of PowerFlex, the first external storage supported and integrated with NCP.
Both moves see Nutanix stake out its market position as virtual machine (VM) rival VMware continues to experience some customer resistance following its controversial acquisition by Broadcom.
On the storage side, April saw Nutanix deepen support for Everpure (formerly Pure Storage), specifically Everpure FlashArray. That integration followed last year's tie-up with the storage firm, which, much like the Dell deal, aimed to bolster the Nutanix proposition to disenchanted VMware customers.
