Microsoft plans to release a unified Copilot “super app” during its current quarter, bringing its chat, coding and agentic AI tools into one product for consumers and businesses, CEO Satya Nadella said on the company’s July 29 earnings call.[1]
The product will combine Copilot’s existing chat experience with Code, Copilot Cowork and Autopilots. Cowork handles multi-step tasks using company data and connected tools, while Autopilots are designed to run longer, autonomous workflows in the background. Microsoft has not named the app or disclosed a specific launch date, supported platforms or pricing.[1][2]
Microsoft is consolidating a fragmented Copilot lineup #
The announcement confirms a project first reported in May. Microsoft currently distributes Copilot capabilities across separate consumer, Microsoft 365 and GitHub products. Nadella said the new app will span “both consumer and commercial experiences,” suggesting users could receive different tools, data access and governance based on the account used to sign in.[1]
Cowork already works on the web and through the Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app for iPhone and Android, but those existing platforms do not confirm where the unified app will launch. Microsoft’s commercial controls include Purview compliance protections, model and browser-use settings, plugin management, usage reporting, and per-user or group spending limits.[2][3]
Pricing remains unresolved #
Microsoft has not said whether the super app will introduce a new subscription. Cowork currently requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and consumption billing, with pay-as-you-go usage priced at $0.01 per Copilot Credit. Microsoft also sells its E7 enterprise bundle, which includes Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent 365, for $99 per user per month with an annual commitment.[2][4]
The consolidation puts Copilot closer to ChatGPT, which already packages chat, Codex coding tools and workflow agents across desktop and mobile apps. Anthropic similarly offers Claude, Claude Code and Claude Cowork, although Microsoft’s main distinction is its direct access to Microsoft 365 work data, GitHub and established enterprise administration systems.[5][6]
