LS Cable & System said Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with the AI Factory Frontier consortium to jointly develop AI data center projects. The consortium brings together companies specializing in GPUs, power equipment, cooling, architecture and business development.

The partnership covers AIDC projects from power demand and site assessment through infrastructure development. The company will use superconducting systems for external grids and bus ducts and fiber-optic cables for internal networks.

Its system can deliver power comparable to a 154-kilovolt high-voltage system using 23-kilovolt medium-voltage lines. This enables existing substations to be used, reducing the need for new substations and installation space. LS Cable was the first company in the world to commercialize the system.

Other AFF members support AIDC development in their respective fields. Naewae Architects handles design, Ezwell AI GPU and AI infrastructure platforms, Woojin Electric power equipment, Enfield P&D business development, and Iljin E&S cooling and renewable energy systems.

LS Cable plans to expand beyond supplying individual products to proposing power infrastructure solutions from the early stages of AIDC development.

“AIDC growth is making access to large-scale power a key challenge,” an LS Cable official said. “We will use superconducting technology to set a new standard for AIDC power infrastructure.”
