Independent investigation on Uruky.com with report

An independent investigation of Uruky.com, a private search engine claiming to be ad-free and AI-free, found the company legally registered in Portugal but could not verify its founders' backgrounds or the 14-day money-back guarantee. The site's basic interface and lack of tracking intermediaries were noted positively, but the investigation remained neutral on several key claims due to insufficient evidence.

I put the Uruky service to the test through an independent investigation with a report.

Title: Is [uruky.com](http://uruky.com) really what it claims to be?

Date: 07/02/26

0. Introduction

My focus will be solely on the service mentioned and the tools used for my independent investigation. It’s not exhaustive. Everything else will be noise—meaning competition, for example, won’t be included.

States included:

  • Positive – passed the test.
  • Negative – didn’t pass the test.
  • Neutral – no decision made (missing information or suspicion based on context, requires exhaustive analysis and investigation (more time), etc.)

1. Who is Uruky and what’s behind it?

Official quote: “Uruky is a private search engine that is similarly free from ads and tracking, with a focus on personal search customization, not AI or side-products. It includes web search and image search, is EU-based, and has a 14-day money-back guarantee.”

→ The 14-day money-back guarantee hasn’t been verified.

  • Who are they?

In the “About Us” menu, two people are listed: Bruno (male) and his wife Patricia (female). I don’t have more exhaustive information about them, neither as individuals nor from data on the internet.

They argue the following: “not AI or side-products.”

→ This information is valid.

Further down it says: “We believe you should trust your own search experience.”

→ Genuine trust is earned, withdrawn, or lost forever; it’s demonstrated through actions by the service, not by saying it publicly.

Do those two people physically exist in real life?

Based on their behavior, style, and format, the answer is: yes; both Bruno and Patricia (I don’t have data on her).

Do they belong to the mafia, state authorities, are they former agents, or any identifiable origin?: Neutral.

  • Does the company exist according to official sources?

Yes. Based on the available data here: 514795468

Is it a shell company? Neutral.

Have they committed identifiable crimes? Neutral.

Information obtained from:

They use a hosting provider called Hetzner, email from Tuta (recommended by Privacy Guides), and the official domain registered with OVH (hosting).

The server has a useful security configuration when you connect to their website from the browser (depending on both sides):

They don’t use Cloudflare or other typical intermediary providers—that’s good news.

Result: Neutral.

2. Website Interface

The design is basic, not overwhelming content.

It doesn’t contain anything equal or similar to:

- Sci-fi movies.
- AAA-style video games, for example.
  • Typical or industry-standard professional designs.
  • Flashy colors being seductive or moving graphics.

It’s easy to navigate between menus without getting lost once you familiarize yourself with the content.

Why is this fundamental? For the simple reason that when your brain processes the interface and its information, you’ll say the content is nice, organized, and has potential—not everyone processes it that way, though.

What happens? Across the industry in general, they’ve designed content so that people stay, get hooked, and don’t leave. It’s a basic but powerful trap at the same time—psychological manipulation that could take time to erase from your memory.

What’s the reason behind all this? When a person enters addiction mode, it can cause anger, rage, or even uncontrollable stress, and then they don’t know where it comes from, why, or how. That’s how they start getting sick and their health deteriorates. That’s how modern business works, but there are more traps—some of them are subliminal messages.

What does this have to do with privacy? Privacy is personal and comes first; technology is just a tool. Without your own security (self-discipline, patience, etc.), a person’s privacy falls apart and becomes weak. Security and personal privacy aren’t separate—they’re one, just as the body and mind are one (pure nature).

Result: Positive.

3. What’s in the submenus?

This is important but only the necessary ones:

What’s New: Where updates applied to the service are published. Useful and well organized.

Terms: Both are generally fine—short and direct. However, there’s missing information: What happens when one of the two or both are no longer around to maintain the service (Bruno and Patricia)? What happens when certain authorities or malicious actors pressure and threaten them? How do they protect people when things are tough for the service and for the two of you? What happens if an external service (the engine, for example) is hijacked or hacked for such purposes? At minimum.

Documentation: Has useful resources like threat models. It would be helpful to integrate SPN from Portmaster Pro, a product from IVPN.

Comparisons: For me, it’s a literal war between search engines, and it’s a shame that Bruno allows this. It’s useful information for people who don’t know about certain areas, but still, it increases the risk of blind trust without questioning Uruky (this lowers the quality and raises suspicions about the service).

Result: Negative.

4. Q&A Section

Here I’ll generate my own questions and answer them based on the evidence I had with Uruky:

  • Is there concealment or censorship of real scientific evidence? Based on the search, for example: https://bioinitiative.org/, there’s no censorship. I don’t have data on all websites or information, so you’ll have to investigate to identify if there’s censorship or concealment of real data. I’m talking about this topic here, not about missing information from the engines, etc.
  • Did I find bugs? Yes. For example: when I update the settings, the interface language changes to another language that’s not the one I use.
  • Are they firm in their principles on AI? No. They say: no to AI, but then they say: “There are no plans to implement AI features. It’s hard for us to do it in a sensible, responsible, and respectful way.” But I say: One thing is “no plans”—that raises doubts because why? If an AI meets their requirements per their context (sensible, etc.), I ask, will they implement it, yes or no? If they won’t, update the words and make it a DEFINITIVE NO, direct and firm until the end.
  • What do the testimonials do? They give information about Uruky and what, according to what they claim, they say about the service. The real risk is that one of them has an AI addiction and it could be contagious to other people.
  • Does Uruky have potential? Yes. If the path is right, their actions will show what they truly are.

5. Final Decision.

Taking into account everything above and that the service is new and still progressing, what I’ll do is wait more time—that is, I’ll be patient to see new updates and other developments. For the time being, I neither recommend it nor reject it.

Hopefully, Uruky doesn’t become like the rest of the clones or much less resort to copy-paste, and keeps as many original parts as possible.

Thanks Bruno (@brn) for letting me test your service. End.
