For practitioners: Low-latency, low-cost image models reduce iteration time and unit cost for high-throughput visual workflows, changing tradeoffs for prototyping and large-batch generation. According to Google's product blog, Google has released Nano Banana 2 Lite (model id gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image), positioned as its fastest and most cost-efficient Gemini image model, capable of producing text-to-image outputs in around four seconds (per Google) and priced at $0.034 per 1K-resolution image (per TechCrunch and India Today reporting). Google's announcement also expands availability of Gemini Omni Flash for video generation and conversational editing, and lists wider rollout into consumer surfaces and developer platforms such as Google AI Studio and the Gemini API (per Google blog and TechCrunch).
