Google is expanding Gemini Spark’s capabilities by integrating it with Google Photos, allowing the AI agent to search photo libraries, create albums, edit images and organise memories. The feature is currently being rolled out in stages to eligible Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US.

Google has expanded Gemini Spark by adding Google Photos to its list of connected apps. The AI agent can now carry out several photo-related tasks based on a single prompt, including searching through a library, finding specific memories and managing collections. The integration is designed to reduce the need for users to manually perform routine photo-management tasks.

Finding the Right Photos Gets Easier #
Gemini Spark can search Google Photos using details such as the subject, location, date or event. It can also help identify standout images from occasions and remove duplicates from a selection. This could be particularly useful for users with large photo libraries who want to quickly locate specific pictures without scrolling through hundreds of images.
AI Can Edit Photos and Create Albums #
The agent can also assist with basic photo improvements, quick edits and collages. Importantly, edits do not replace the original image. Google Photos saves the modified version as a separate copy, allowing users to keep the original intact. Spark can also create albums based on instructions, such as gathering the best pictures from a particular holiday or event.
You Can Automate Photo Tasks Too #
Gemini Spark goes beyond one-off requests by allowing users to automate certain Google Photos workflows. For instance, it can be instructed to create a monthly album featuring selected highlights. The agent can also read text from images and use the extracted information to complete related tasks. To get started, users simply need to open their connected apps in Gemini Spark and enable Google Photos.
