Trinity Audioplayer ready...A cyclist died after colliding with a car Saturday afternoon in Fremont, police reported.
The crash took place at 4:34 p.m. near Grimmer Boulevard on Auto Mall Parkway. The vehicle was traveling west on Auto Mall Parkway in the right-turn lane for the northbound Interstate 880 ramp and the cyclist was traveling east in the westbound bicycle lane on an electric bicycle when the collision took place, according to a Fremont Police Department release.
The cyclist suffered head injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he died. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. No identities have been released.
The incident marks Fremont’s sixth fatal traffic collision of 2026.
