All the talk about establishing an American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund has raised important questions about the responsibilities of U.S. AI companies — and Big Tech Companies — in giving back to Americans instead of single-mindedly trying to make profits, such as through surveillance capitalism.

Anthropic recently announced teachers will get free premium access to Claude. I think they should do the same for legal aid lawyers, but that’s a topic for another day.

Anthropic also has a program called “Claude Corps,” a jobs program that pays fellows $85,000 to go help non-profit organization with the use of AI. Anthropic has committed $150 million to this program initially. If it’s successful, hopefully they expand the program and commit even more money to fund this program.
