Crazy Exynos 2700 leak gives us an unprecedented look at Galaxy S27’s processor

A leaked die shot of Samsung's Exynos 2700 chipset, posted by SemiAnalysis on X, reveals a deca-core CPU with two C2 Ultra cores (4.24GHz and 3.36GHz) and eight C2 Pro cores (four at 3.74GHz and four at 2.88GHz), along with an Xclipse 970 GPU and a large NPU hinting at improved AI performance. The chipset, expected to power some Galaxy S27 variants, features 24MB of system-level cache and 16MB of L3 cache, though its 4.24GHz peak clock speed trails Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and its successor.

  • A leaked Exynos 2700 die shot has revealed plenty of details about the new flagship Android chipset.
  • The processor could have a deca-core CPU consisting of two C2 Ultra big cores and eight C2 Pro medium cores.
  • We’ve also got an Xclipse 970 GPU and what looks like a huge NPU, with the latter hinting at improved AI performance.

Samsung is expected to use both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and the in-house Exynos 2700 chipset in the Galaxy S27 phones. We’ve already heard a few rumors about the Exynos 2700, but a massive new leak may have revealed all the major specs.

SemiAnalysis on X (thanks, Dylan H!) posted a die shot of the Exynos 2700, giving us a look at what could be the actual chipset. The outlet also labeled the processor, revealing major details in the process. Check out the image below.

The annotated die shot reveals that the Exynos 2700 has a deca-core CPU featuring unannounced Arm CPU cores. Expect one C2 Ultra core clocked at 4.24GHz, one C2 Ultra clocked at 3.36GHz, four C2 Pro cores running at 3.74GHz, and four C2 Pro cores at 2.88GHz. We’ve also got a substantial 24MB of system-level cache and what looks like 16MB of L3 cache. Either way, this 4.24GHz clock speed falls short of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, let alone its successor’s 5GHz peak speeds.

By contrast, the Exynos 2600 had a deca-core CPU featuring just one C1 Ultra core clocked at 3.8GHz, three C1 Pro cores at 3.25GHz, and six C1 Pro cores running at 2.75GHz. It’s particularly interesting to see two big cores with different peak clock speeds on the new chip. In fact, the second big core has a lower clock speed than one of the C2 Pro clusters. For what it’s worth, Qualcomm generally uses two big CPU cores with identical clock speeds in its flagship processors.

Otherwise, the Exynos 2700 will apparently ship with an Xclipse 970 GPU featuring what appears to be eight workgroup processors (WGP). This would line up with the Exynos 2600 GPU, according to previous reports. We also see a large NPU here, hinting at a major boost for AI workloads.

There isn’t much else to learn from this leak, but we already know that the Exynos 2700 will sit side-by-side with the DRAM. This means the Heat Path Block (effectively a heat sink) will likely cover both pieces of hardware, which should result in a cooler processor. We were also expecting the Exynos chipset to appear in some Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus variants, but a recent leak points to a Galaxy S27 Ultra with an Exynos 2700 chip.
