In May 2026, machine-generated traffic surpassed human traffic on Cloudflare’s network for the first time, a crossing point the company had previously pegged for 2027. By Q2 2026, non-human traffic accounted for more than 50% of all traffic flowing through Cloudflare’s infrastructure, with bot-generated requests hitting 57.5% of total volume.

Cloudflare reported $696 million in Q2 2026 revenue, a 36% year-over-year increase. The company framed the surge in AI workloads on its platform not as a looming problem but as an expanding business opportunity.
Elon Musk weighed in to support the forecast, stating that AI internet traffic will “vastly exceed” human usage.
