The company had 20.5% more passenger vehicle sales in July 2026 than in July 2025 (411,072 versus 341,030), and 3.5% more sales than the month prior (June 2026, 397,292).

In terms of pure battery-electric passenger vehicle sales, those rose 31% year over year (from 177,887 to 233,105) and 15.7% month over month (from 201,472 to 233,105). As we can see in the chart above, July was the second best month ever for BYD BEVs.

Plugin hybrids, meanwhile, rose 9.1% year over year (from 163,143 to 177,967), but dropped 9.1% month over month (from 195,820 to 177,967). (Not the second best month ever for BYD PHEVs.)

Overall, the automaker is still down across the first seven months of the year. Plugin passenger vehicle sales are down 10.8%, battery-electric passenger vehicle sales are down 8.4%, and plugin hybrid passenger vehicle sales are down 13.2%. However, with the rebound now well underway, hot new models hitting the markets, supply issues getting worked out, and more hot new models coming, expect the coming months to do a good job getting the company back into the black.
