The Big Bang Theory universe is expanding once again, but one part of its newest spin-off, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, is already causing controversy after its opening title sequence was revealed.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is the latest spin-off from The Big Bang Theory, following comic book store owner Stuart Bloom after he accidentally triggers a multiverse disaster with a device built by Sheldon and Leonard. The show premiered on HBO Max on July 23, 2026, with new episodes releasing weekly.
Ahead of the latest episode, the show’s opening title sequence was released online, but rather than celebrating the new intro, many fans immediately began slamming its unusual visuals and self-referential style.

Following the release of the opening sequence, viewers flooded social media with criticism, with many suggesting the visuals looked AI-generated while taking aim at the intro’s meta jokes encouraging audiences not to skip it.
One commenter wrote: “It’s weird how it’s like ‘we don’t have budget for graphics sorry’ when the Big Bang Theory’s intro was basically just a slideshow of public domain images, and Young Sheldon’s is 15 seconds of Iain Armitage and a cow on a green screen,” referring to the incredibly simplistic opening sequences of the other shows in the franchise.
Another lashed out at the sequence, calling it an “irony-poisoned “self-aware” AI-generated intro,” going on to call it “some of the most soulless s**t I’ve ever seen in my life”
Many echoed the sentiment, writing: “One of the worst things about this is the awful self-congratulatory ‘don’t skip’ text that’s like proud to brag that they shat this AI slop out with no money.” While another added: “The audacity to make it with AI and have a caption saying ‘how about these graphics, huh?’ as if it’s supposed to be a good thing”
