Anthropic Cracking Down on Video Game Rewrites

Anthropic pushed a new usage rule to Claude Code around October 27, delivered from its servers under a flag named "tengu_heron_brook" with no user setting to disable it. The rule instructs the tool to "build original games, games in a genre, and games from the user's own designs and assets" but not to "build a recreation of a specific existing game, even if it is renamed or called original." The change restricts Claude Code users who build game recreations or mods, and Anthropic has not offered an opt-out.
