Annual AI Summer School Alumni Event 2026

Online, 24 September, 14:00 - 17:45 CEST Every year, we organise an alumni event to enable our alumni to stay up to date on the latest developments of the law, ethics and policy of AI. Most importantly, this is also the ideal opportunity to bring the community together, catch up with each other, and get to know other alumni.

This year, the event will take place exclusively online. We will host an online gathering on 24 September 2026, including a panel discussion with and for alumni, a social event, and our classic alumni research presentations. We will close the event with regional gatherings for drinks or dinner.

**The registration link will be distributed via email. Through the link, alumni will also be able to indicate their interest to present their work during the alumni research presentation session. **

Here below you can find an overview of the draft schedule. The full programme will be shared closer to date.

1. Panel Discussion: "Empowering or Creating Dependency? The Spectrum of AI's Impact on Humans' Cognitive Skills"

Online, 14:00 - 15:00 CEST As AI systems are increasingly integrated into decision-making processes across sectors, this panel explores the spectrum of impacts that AI systems have on humans’ cognitive abilities. We invited an interdisciplinary and multistakeholder set of panelists, including Ylja Remmits (alumna 2025), Risto Uuk (alumnus 2022) and María José Villalobos Quesada (alumna 2023), to speak about the topic. The panel will be moderated by Anna Nadibaidze (alumna 2023) and Anja Reimann (alumna 2024).

2. Online socializing: Let's Quiz!

Online, 15:00 - 15:30 CEST Our Summer School Alumni are known for combining impressive knowledge and fun. We will therefore host a short quiz which aims to connect alumni from different graduation years.

3. Alumni Research Presentations Session

*Online, 15:30 - 17:45 CEST * We continue our activities with a classic **alumni research presentations **session, with an eye on getting to know what fellow alumni are working on and fostering future collaborations. Alumni who are interested in presenting their work during the session can register their interest through the registration link that will be sent via email.

4. Let's connect offline: Meet up!

In person, evening

This year's event may well take place online, but we still hope that alumni across the world will take this opportunity to meet up in person with fellow alumni in their cities. We therefore close the annual alumni event with informal regional drinks or dinners, which we encourage all of you to set up locally that evening.

How to join? #

All alumni will receive an email with the full schedule of the event and a registration link. The link will also allow alumni to indicate their potential interest to present their research during the research presentation session. For any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us directly.

We hope to see many of you there!
