AMD teams up with 5C to build gigascale AI campuses, and the stock is already responding

AMD partnered with infrastructure operator 5C to build gigascale AI campuses with over 1.5 gigawatts of planned capacity, targeting next-generation AI factories. The collaboration integrates AMD's Helios rack-scale architecture with 5C's large-scale AI infrastructure expertise, with initial buildouts in Ohio and Memphis. AMD's stock rose on the announcement.

The chipmaker's new partnership targets next-generation AI factories with over 1.5 gigawatts of planned capacity, signaling a broader arms race in AI infrastructure

AMD just locked in a collaboration with 5C, a high-performance infrastructure operator, to build what both companies are calling “gigascale AI campuses.” The announcement, made in Paris on July 9, targets the kind of massive, tightly integrated AI factory environments that are quickly becoming the new battleground for chipmakers trying to claw market share from Nvidia.

AMD’s stock moved higher on the news.

What the partnership actually involves #

The deal pairs AMD’s AI compute portfolio, specifically its Helios rack-scale architecture, with 5C’s expertise in designing and running large-scale AI infrastructure. The core idea is integration: fully optimized systems where compute, power delivery, cooling, networking, and operations all work together.

“The next generation of AI factories won’t be enabled by chips or data centers in isolation,” said 5C CEO Jonathan Ahdoot.

AMD’s Corporate VP Andrew Dieckmann highlighted the leadership performance of the AMD Helios rack-scale solution as a key differentiator.

5C brings over 1.5 gigawatts of planned capacity to this partnership, enough to run hundreds of thousands of GPUs simultaneously across a network of AI-optimized facilities.

Initial buildouts are already underway. Ohio and Memphis have been identified as early locations, with the infrastructure specifically targeting customers in the neocloud market.

This isn’t 5C’s first dance with AMD hardware either. Back in December 2025, 5C expanded capacity for AMD’s Instinct MI355X GPUs in collaboration with Vultr at the company’s Springfield, Ohio campus.

5C also has a track record of executing substantial projects, including a $250 million campus in LaSalle, Canada, announced in September 2025 in partnership with Mila and Hypertec. The company is additionally developing an AI factory in Memphis in collaboration with Together AI, targeting operational readiness in early 2026 using NVIDIA GB200 systems.
