AI helps detect cancer and strokes in Kazakhstan

Hospitals in Astana, Kazakhstan, are using AI systems from WDSOFT and Cerebra.ai Ltd to improve cancer and stroke diagnostics, cutting diagnostic time to 10 minutes. Since August 1, 2025, the central server has stored over 360,000 radiological studies, including 282,603 X-rays and fluorographies, 44,215 CT scans, 3,878 MRI images, 28,618 mammography images, and 949 angiographies. Cerebra, introduced in three stroke centers, automates stroke diagnosis, and a Center for Personal Support and Online Consultations is set to launch in 2026.

Hospitals in the Kazakh capital are adopting artificial intelligence technologies to improve diagnostics for cancer and stroke, significantly reducing the time needed for medical decisions, Qazinform News Agency cites the city akimat.

One of the key projects is the centralization of radiological studies using the WDSOFT AI system. It is connected to 19 medical organizations. The system helps detect oncological diseases at early stages, recognize pathologies in medical images and reduce diagnostic time to 10 minutes.

Since August 1, 2025, Astana’s central server has stored over 360,000 radiological studies, including 282,603 X-rays and fluorographies, 44,215 CT scans, 3,878 MRI images, 28,618 mammography images and 949 angiographies.

Another solution is Cerebra software by Cerebra.ai Ltd, which provides automated stroke diagnosis by classifying type and subtype. It helps doctors make rapid treatment decisions. Cerebra was introduced in three stroke centers in the Kazakh capital.

Another stage is the launch of the Center for Personal Support and Online Consultations in 2026 aimed at strengthening patient–doctor interaction, expanding preventive care coverage and improving targeted medical assistance.

A situational center using AI will be established on the grounds of the center to monitor key healthcare indicators in Astana.

To note, China–Kazakhstan International Symposium on AI in Healthcare and Medical Innovation concluded successfully.
