People are searching for more and more ways to get offline, experience the real world, and “touch grass.” This year, people are searching for “adult tennis lessons,” “trail running,” “hiking,” and “run club” more than ever before. People are also searching for questions like “how to digital detox” (+110% since the beginning of the year) and “how to meet people my age near me.”
To make the most of your IRL fun, AI Mode in Google Search has the tools to help you find the information you need. Here's how:
1. Find local classes that fit into your schedule. #
Ready to try your hand at something new but don’t know where to begin? Use AI Mode to kick things off by asking something like, "How can I get started playing tennis? Are there beginner clinics or lessons nearby that I could easily join?"
Personal Intelligence allows you to securely connect the dots across your Google apps so that AI Mode’s responses are even more personalized to you. For example, say you’re looking to get better at cooking and want to find classes that’d easily fit into your schedule next month. If you’ve chosen to connect Google Calendar, you’ll get suggestions that fit your existing schedule.
2. Find the exact gear you need. #
Getting outdoors is a great way to disconnect, but for activities like hiking and trail running, you want to make sure you’re fully prepared before you head out. You can easily shop within AI Mode to make sure you have the items to exactly fit your needs. Try asking, "Can you help me find some affordable hiking boots with good ankle support?" AI Mode will help you choose between products that match what you’re looking for. You can also see what’s in stock in the area by including “nearby” or “near me” in your search, and even ask Google to call nearby stores to get product availability for you.
3. Perfect your strategy. #
If you’re getting into tabletop games this year, you can use Canvas in AI Mode to create a guide to help you memorize some of the core playing strategies. Head to AI Mode, tap the plus menu, select Canvas, then ask it something like, “I know the basics of playing chess and what the different pieces do, but I want to up my game. Make a guide with a few easy to remember strategies I can start using immediately to get an edge when I play my friends.” Once you’ve mastered key moves, you can even use Canvas to practice by building a game simulation where you play against a computer.
4. Find and book event tickets. #
If you like spending your time offline by attending live events, use AI Mode to help you find and book tickets for nearby events, like concerts and sports. Share details like your budget, how many tickets you want, and what event you’d like to go to. AI Mode will curate a list of options, so you can finalize your booking at your preferred platform to secure your spot.
5. Design a dinner party invite. #
Hosting a dinner party is a great way to put your phone away and spend quality time with friends. By connecting some of your go-to apps, like Canva, to Search, you can easily turn any inspiration into an editable design all in one space. Simply try a prompt like, "Create a flyer in Canva for the party I’m hosting in two weeks. Make it modern minimalistic style." Canva will generate a custom design right in your Search results. You can add finishing design touches in Canva, or easily download it, and send it out. Then you can get back to planning your tablescape design.
