*Special Report:*Clean energy and energy storage developer 1414 Degrees has delivered a positive June quarter, locking in multi-sector commercial partnerships and cementing a robust balance sheet to support its next growth phase.
During the quarter, the company expanded its footprint into rapid-growth verticals – including AI data centre infrastructure, defence drones, aerospace and satellite technology – while also advancing its core battery and industrial decarbonisation platforms.
14D executive chair Dr Kevin Moriarty said the June quarter had furnished the company with a strengthened balance sheet and the commercial momentum to realise the revenue potential of its technology and projects.
“What I find most encouraging is that SiNTL is no longer just a set of good numbers in our own lab,” he said.
“We now have agreements in place for Energia 2000 and Orbit Boy to test it independently in drone and space applications once we can supply scaled material.
“That is a different stage of maturity for this company, and one we intend to keep building on.”
Major AI Data Centre Partnership at Aurora
One of 1414 Degrees’ (ASX:14D) big wins for the quarter was a Heads of Agreement signed with an Australian data centre operator, covering a proposed staged development of up to 1 Gigawatt (GW) of AI data centre infrastructure.
The new generation energy infrastructure is set to be built at 14D’s Aurora Energy Precinct in South Australia.
The HoA grants the operator exclusivity over an initial 40-hectare parcel while definitive contracts are negotiated.
To accelerate value creation, the company identified an early 33kV network pathway to bring forward commercial activity and potential revenue at Aurora ahead of the broader 275kV transmission connection.
Additionally, Aurora’s 140 MW/280 MWh Stage 1 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) completed technical requirements to move into commercial transmission access negotiations with ElectraNet.
Expanding into Drone, Aerospace and Satellite Markets
1414 Degrees established a new Aerospace and Defence Division during the period, supported by an advisory board of industry experts to commercialise its silicon-enhanced battery technology, SiNTL.
The company made inroads in key international commercial channels, including:
Energia 2000– A battery evaluation agreement with the Ukrainian defence manufacturer, which produces 72,000 military drones annually, to test SiNTL across UAV platforms.Orbit Boy– A testing and commercialisation agreement with the Italian space technology company. Subsequent to the quarter, Orbit Boy selected SiNTL as the primary energy storage candidate for its planned defence launch vehicles and satellite servicing module, subject to successful testing.
Recent testing confirmed SiNTL cells exceeded 550 mAh/g energy density across all configurations, with optimised formulations topping 600 mAh/g.
Those numbers offer roughly 60% higher power capacity than traditional graphite-based anodes, an important consideration in industries with keen focus on weight-to-power ratios like drones.
Backed by Strong Financial Runway
The company strengthened its capital position during the quarter, securing $8.45 million via a placement at $0.10 per share.
The placement was cornerstoned by Tribeca Investment Partners.
Post-quarter end, 1414 Degrees received an additional $2 million from the exercise of listed options.
The company retains 276 million in-the-money options on issue, representing up to $13.8 million in potential further cash inflows if fully exercised.
“The $8.45 million raise means we can fund SiNTL scale-up alongside the Energia 2000 and Orbit Boy programs at the same time, instead of waiting our turn, and the Heads of Agreement at Aurora gives us a credible pathway to a gigawatt-scale customer while the 33kV connection lets us start generating value from the precinct much sooner than the transmission build alone would allow,” Dr Moriarty said.
