You may soon be able to create and export custom WhatsApp stickers straight from ChatGPT

OpenAI is developing a feature in ChatGPT's Android app that will let users create and export custom stickers directly to WhatsApp, as discovered by Android Authority in an APK teardown. The feature, named 'ChatGPT Stickers,' includes an 'Add to WhatsApp' option and requires a minimum of three stickers per pack, a WhatsApp requirement. The feature is not yet publicly available, and its release date is unknown.

OpenAI is working on a feature that allows users to export custom stickers created on ChatGPT straight into WhatsApp. Here are the details.

Feature is currently under development #

Depending on where you live or how old you are, you probably can’t spend a day, or even a few hours, without either sending or receiving a WhatsApp sticker.

To the uninitiated, messaging app stickers are small images that users can send in chats, much like emoji or GIFs. They’re typically organized into sticker packs and can range from custom illustrations to small, meme-like images with captions.

WhatsApp already has its own AI-powered sticker creation feature, which uses Meta AI to generate images from text prompts. Now, as spotted by Android Authority, OpenAI appears to be working on bringing a similar sticker creation feature to ChatGPT.

According to the website, the latest version of ChatGPT’s Android app includes strings related to creating, exporting, and down stickers. From the website:

  • ChatGPT Stickers
  • Add to chat apps
  • Add to WhatsApp
  • WhatsApp (3 minimum)
  • Couldn’t add stickers to WhatsApp
  • Download stickers The feature itself is named “ChatGPT Stickers” and will offer users the option to add stickers to chat apps. However, it currently seems only to support WhatsApp. Users can tap the “Add to WhatsApp” option to add their created stickers to WhatsApp as a custom sticker pack.

Android Authority adds that the three-sticker minimum is a WhatsApp requirement rather than an OpenAI limitation.

Given the fact that the feature was uncovered through an APK teardown, it is currently unclear when or whether it will be released publicly.
