Xpeng spends $500M/year on AI training to beat Tesla FSD

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng is spending approximately $41 million per month, or nearly $500 million annually, on AI training for its autonomous driving systems. The company's head of autonomous driving, Dr. Xianming Liu, stated that Xpeng has already achieved parity with Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) v13 and expects to surpass it with v14 before the end of summer.

Xpeng’s head of autonomous driving told Electrek that the company is spending roughly 300 million RMB ~$41 million per month on AI training alone and believes it has already reached parity with Tesla’s FSD v13 — with v14 within reach before the end of summer.
