World launches ID suite for banks, makes Zoom deepfake check generally available

World, the identity project behind Worldcoin and operated by Tools for Humanity, announced on October 16, 2026 that its World ID for Zoom app is generally available in the Zoom App Marketplace after a beta that began in April 2026, and rolled out a World ID suite for banks and regulated industries. The Zoom tool runs a three-way cryptographic match between a reference iris image from a World Orb, a device selfie and the live video frame, granting a "Verified Human" badge when all three align. The bank suite, with early design partners Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake and VanEck Funds, is pitched as a privacy-preserving layer alongside existing KYC checks for wire transfers and executive approvals.

The company behind Worldcoin is pitching iris-backed identity checks to banks and enterprises worried about AI impersonation on video calls

World, the identity project behind Worldcoin and operated by Tools for Humanity, is taking its iris-scanning tech to the conference room.

On October 16, 2026, the company announced that World ID for Zoom is generally available in the Zoom App Marketplace. It also rolled out a set of World ID tools built for banks and other regulated industries. The goal of both is the same: confirming that the person on your screen is a real human, and the right one.

How the Zoom check works #

The Zoom integration had been in beta since April 2026. That testing period is now over, and any Zoom user can add the app from the marketplace.

The tool performs what World calls real-time “Proof of Human” verification during a live meeting. Under the hood, it runs a three-way cryptographic match between three images.

The first is a reference image captured when the user scanned their iris at one of World’s Orb devices. The second is a selfie taken on the user’s own device. The third is the live video frame streaming into the Zoom call.

If all three line up, the participant gets a “Verified Human” badge in the meeting. The Zoom relationship itself is not brand new. The collaboration began in April 2026 through the Zoom ISV Exchange Program, which is the platform’s channel for independent software vendors building on top of it.

The bank-focused suite #

The bigger enterprise play is the separate World ID suite for regulated industries. World is marketing the package as “full-stack Proof of Human” infrastructure.

Early design partners include Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake and VanEck Funds.

World is not positioning the suite as a replacement for Know Your Customer checks. Instead, it is meant to sit alongside existing KYC processes as an extra, privacy-preserving layer.

The target use cases are the moments where a fake face costs real money. Wire transfers and executive approvals are the examples World highlights.

Background: from crypto token to identity layer #

World started life as Worldcoin, a project that paired a crypto token with a global effort to scan irises using a custom device called the Orb. The pitch was that a unique biometric scan could prove someone is a distinct human without revealing who they are.

The project has enrolled millions of users through Orb verification so far. That user base is what makes an enterprise product possible, since the Zoom check only works for people who have already visited an Orb.

World ID 4.0 is the latest version of the underlying protocol, and it puts a heavier emphasis on enterprise requirements and security. The Zoom launch and bank suite read as the commercial follow-through on that upgrade.
