Workiva introduces Agent Studio, a new feature that allows users to build and deploy their own AI agents within the platform. The tool is designed to automate manual compliance and audit processes without requiring programming knowledge.
Workiva provides organizations with a cloud platform for financial and non-financial reporting. With Agent Studio, the company takes a step toward further automation of internal control and audit processes. Users can provide agents with company-specific information, align them with their own workflows, and schedule them for recurring tasks, all within the existing platform environment.
Building without code #
Agent Studio combines AI with Workiva’s platform capabilities, knowledge, and workflows. This allows employees to automate complex, manual business processes without writing a single line of code. According to CEO Julie Iskow, this empowers the people who know the work and their company best to build solutions themselves.
Iskow emphasizes, however, that the quality of what users build depends on the underlying foundation. She states that while every company now has access to AI, the main challenge is whether results are traceable and defensible to investors and regulators. This importance grows as AI becomes more prevalent within business processes.
Automation of internal audits #
A concrete application of Agent Studio is automated testing for internal audit and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). Multiple AI agents work together to gather evidence, select samples, and then test them. Manual work is thus replaced by a workflow that remains fully traceable at every step.
According to Workiva, this results in greater sampling capacity and broader risk coverage. Furthermore, organizations could scale without requiring additional manual work, while maintaining consistency and governance.
Traceability as a starting point #
With Agent Studio, Workiva is responding to the growing demand for transparent and auditable reporting. The platform combines automation with existing control mechanisms, allowing companies to deploy AI-driven processes without compromising accountability to regulators.
