# Why the founders are betting early on a mobile IDE

Treena's founders are going all-in on phone-first agentic development: start agents from scratch on your repo, full IDE surfaces on mobile, and a future where the laptop is optional.

Camden Hulse & Kollaikal Rupesh

We are betting early, on purpose.

Not on "a nicer chat UI for code." On a **mobile IDE** where you can start coding agents from scratch on your GitHub repo, with a full workspace on your phone.

That sounds aggressive. It is also where software work is going.

## The desk is no longer the only place code happens

Developers already live on phones for reviews, messages, alerts, and decisions. The missing piece has been a serious place to **act**: open a repo cold, run an agent, use a terminal, inspect files, review changes, commit, push.

We think that product should exist as a first-class mobile IDE, not as a companion to a laptop that has to stay awake.

## What we are building

Treena is our answer:

**Agents from scratch** on your repository, started from the phone- A
**complete IDE experience**: terminal, file tree, changes, commit history **Model choice**, including bring-your-own-key- Cloud compute so the heavy work is not limited by your battery

Phone-first. Laptop optional. Work stays in sync when you do use a bigger screen.

## Why bet early

Every decade, the "real computer" shifts. We believe the next shift for shipping software is **availability**: being able to fix, build, and ship when you are not at a desk.

Waiting until the category is obvious means shipping a clone. Betting early means defining the category while it is still weird.

Mobile agentic coding still looks weird to a lot of people. That is usually the right time to build.

## What "early" looks like for users

Early means:

- Waitlist and careful access
- Strong opinions on the loop (plan vs act, push as the finish line)
- Room to shape the product with people who feel the pain

If you have ever wanted to start something real on a repo while you only had a phone, you are who we are building for.

## Join us while it is still early

[Join the waitlist](/#waitlist). Tell us what you would ship first from your pocket.

We are all in on mobile as a real place to build, not a place to wait until you get home.
