Who’s behind the new ‘stealth model’ Ox Alpha?

A mysterious AI model called Ox Alpha, released on OpenRouter on Thursday and described as a reasoning model for coding and agentic work, has sparked speculation about its creator. Stripe CEO Patrick Collison called it 'very impressive' on X, while analysts and Reddit users debate whether it comes from Chinese company Z.ai, Microsoft's unreleased MAI, or another source.
