Whop releases command-line interface to let business owners and their AI agents access digital commerce

Whop Inc., an e-commerce platform for digital products and services, today released a command-line interface that lets business owners and AI agents access its capabilities without coding. The CLI enables users to run commands for launching products, managing subscriptions, and moving money, bridging the gap for non-technical users and AI tools, according to co-founder and CEO Steven Schwartz.

Launched in 2021, Whop provides e-commerce capabilities alongside a payments infrastructure layer. The platform delivers both turnkey storefronts for sellers who want an out-of-the-box presence and embeddable experiences via a software development kit and application programming interface, so they can build it into their own apps. The company’s API allows developers to plug Whop’s capabilities into their apps, for example, building payment flows, managing users running ads and more. “Businesses use Whop to help them grow faster, and the fact that many of them don’t have a dedicated engineering team to scale and build has been a major roadblock,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Steven Schwartz. Now, business owners can hook in and get a live product running with a checkout link simply by chatting with their favorite AI agent. A CLI is a method for accessing and managing software from the terminal. To the everyday user, this differs from the graphical user interface, which includes double-clicking and drag-and-drop, in that it is where users access the operating system and tools using text. Users and developers type specific commands, hit enter, and the computer responds in text as it takes actions. Business users can now run wide swaths of their ecommerce operations through the command line.
