What to expect at Neo4j’s GraphSummit: Join theCUBE Sept. 24
Enterprises are facing a context problem — and models alone are not enough to solve it.
Graph databases, which connect data with intelligent context that models and agents can better understand, are becoming a critical part of application development. Neo4j Inc., a leader in graph technology, is focused on supporting developers with its AI-powered graph solutions.
“From an AppDev perspective, the value of technologies such as Neo4j is that they give developers a way to represent the relationships, dependencies and business context that AI applications need to reason effectively,” said Paul Nashawaty, principal analyst for theCUBE. “Moving from experimentation to production requires more than embedding an LLM into an application. It requires trusted, connected data that AI can retrieve, understand and act upon.”
This month’s GraphSummit will feature leaders and experts in graph technology, with an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. Don’t miss theCUBE’s event coverage to learn more about Neo4j’s role in the agentic AI era and the evolution of graph systems. ( Disclosure below.)*
Building intelligent context into agentic AI
TheCUBE’s AppDev research shows that 90% of enterprises are actively adopting AI agents but an approximately 30% operational-readiness gap remains between AI experimentation and production-scale deployment, according to Nashawaty. Neo4j’s graph solutions are intended to close that gap by giving agents consistent context across different systems.
“As agents move from copilots that answer questions to systems that take action, the ability to understand what is connected to what, why that relationship matters and what actions are safe becomes foundational,” Nashawaty said. “That makes the graph less of a specialized database technology and more of a potential knowledge layer for the next generation of enterprise applications.”
Neo4j is now building Graph Retrieval-Augmented Generation directly into its developer workflow. GraphRAG combines vector search with relationship-aware retrieval, enabling agents to understand business context and provide a more traceable basis for their decisions.
The company’s recent acquisition of GraphAware further points to its ambitions as an intelligence layer for agentic AI. While Neo4j is not a direct competitor for Palantir, it does provide an alternative to Palantir Gotham, a data analysis and decision-making platform, Nashawaty pointed out.
“Neo4j is positioning the graph as a knowledge and reasoning layer for AI applications, while Palantir’s Ontology is more tightly coupled to its broader operational platform,” he said. “Neo4j’s acquisition of GraphAware and its explicit positioning as an open-standard alternative to Palantir Gotham, however, shows that the company is moving beyond being a database provider and directly into intelligence and AI-driven decision support.”
