The Group of Seven (G7) leaders concluded their summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, with a series of declarations covering global security, economic development, health, migration and organized crime, Qazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

The three-day gathering brought together leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union, alongside several partner countries invited to participate in discussions.

Backing the U.S.- Iran agreement

Leaders described the deal as a major opportunity to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and said they were prepared to support its implementation. The statement also backed further diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing broader regional security concerns.

The G7 welcomed a French and British-led maritime initiative designed to help restore confidence in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy transit routes.

The group also called for accelerated humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Gaza and expressed support for efforts to strengthen stability in Lebanon.

Development finance overhaul

Leaders agreed on the need to modernize the international development finance system, arguing that existing mechanisms have become increasingly complex and less effective at promoting sustainable growth.

The declaration emphasized reducing debt vulnerabilities, improving transparency in lending practices, attracting greater private investment and supporting partner countries in strengthening domestic revenue collection.

The G7 also highlighted the importance of infrastructure development, resilient supply chains and cooperation on critical minerals needed for future industries.

Global response to Ebola outbreak

The summit produced a coordinated call for action against a re-emerging Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.

Leaders pledged support for containment efforts, including disease surveillance, laboratory testing, border preparedness and community engagement. They also committed to helping accelerate the development and deployment of vaccines, diagnostics and treatments for the rare strain involved in the outbreak.

Cancer research and AI in healthcare

The G7 committed to accelerating the fight against cancer, with particular attention to pediatric, adolescent and young adult cancers.

Leaders called for deeper international cooperation on research, greater sharing of health data, improved screening programs and wider access to quality cancer care. They also highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment.

Crackdown on migrant smuggling and drug trafficking

The G7 pledged stronger action against migrant smuggling networks, including closer cooperation with countries of origin and transit and expanded efforts to combat criminal activity online.

Leaders also announced plans to intensify the fight against global drug trafficking. Among the measures agreed was the creation of a G7+ Ports Network to Combat Drug Trafficking, designed to strengthen cooperation among major ports and law enforcement agencies.

The group additionally committed to targeting money laundering, criminal infiltration of legitimate institutions and other illicit financial activities linked to organized crime.

Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged the G7 to join the US effort against Iran’s finances.
