In an already cluttered market of AI assistants, Meta has rolled out Muse AI. The company’s long-awaited personal AI agent seeks access to users' email, calendars, payments, health services, and more. This puts Meta in possibly a precarious position as to whether people still trust the company with their data. The launch comes less than two weeks after Meta agreed to an $18 billion multistate settlement over social media's consumer harms. Announcing the launch on X/Twitter, Zuckerberg tweeted
Introducing Muse, the personal agent that understands your goals and works 24/7 to get things done for you.
He further added what Muse is and how it functions under stringent privacy guardrails in a series of tweets.
A Sentinel agent separate from your Muse runs on your VM. Every action or piece of data that goes out to the network has to be approved by the Sentinel. The kernel enforces that, and it knows when it needs to get your permission to proceed.

So What Exactly Does Muse AI Do? #
Muse connects to apps and services people use daily, including email, calendars, payment tools, and apps for health, fitness, smart homes, dining, shopping, and music. It can send emails, book travel, lower bills, fill out forms, create plans, turn recipe reels into grocery lists, send party invitations, and make purchases using Link by Stripe for checkout.
The agent runs on Meta's Muse Spark models, which have been built under the new AI chief Alexandr Wang. Muse exists in a chat interface and is designed to be more proactive and long-running than typical chatbots, letting users name their agent, create an avatar, and customize how it communicates.

Muse AI Pricing & India Roll Out #
Meta is offering a free tier alongside two subscription options at $20 and $100 per month. Muse is initially available in the US on iOS, Android, and the web, with support for Meta's AI glasses coming soon. The India rollout date is not available yet.
Muse AI Privacy #
On the AI app’s privacy, Wang stated the app runs within its own isolated environment inside Meta's computing infrastructure and never sees users' actual passwords or payment details. The virtual machine is designed to be private to each person, though it still runs on Meta's own infrastructure, and by default queries can be used by the company, with an opt-out available. Boss Mark Zuckerberg on X/Twitter quipped
You're in control. You choose which apps and services Muse has access to and you can disconnect them at any time. For sensitive actions like purchases or sending emails, Muse checks with you first. Passwords live in the Secure Credential Storage, so Muse can't read this information.
