[How much of the internet is written with AI?](https://www.pewresearch.org/?p=356386)

In a random sample of 10,000 webpages collected in July 2026, one-in-ten show signs of being [written or substantially edited by AI](https://www.pewresearch.org/?p=356386). This is part of an upward trend that began in late 2022, when ChatGPT was first released to the public, and continued as other chatbots followed.

For the first time, a majority of U.S. adults under 30 (55%) say they’re [more concerned than excited](https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/08/18/young-adults-in-the-us-are-increasingly-wary-of-ai-concerned-it-will-take-jobs/) about the increased use of AI in daily life. Around three-quarters in this age group (73%) also think AI will lead to fewer jobs, up from 61% two years ago.

The federal government [admitted about 10,000 refugees](https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/08/17/refugee-admissions-to-the-us-are-dropping-sharply-in-trumps-second-term/) in the first 10 months of fiscal year 2026, down from 38,000 in fiscal 2025 and 100,000 in fiscal 2024. Nearly all refugees to the U.S. this year are South Africans, who have never before appeared among the top origin groups.

A little over a third of U.S. teens ages 16 to 19 have held a paying job for at least part of this summer, according to federal employment data.
