WebMCP Registry – a public index for WebMCP tool contracts

A developer has launched the WebMCP Registry, a public index for WebMCP tool contracts that addresses the W3C standard's unsolved limitation of tool discoverability. The registry allows website owners to submit domains and tool contracts, verify ownership via DNS, and make tools searchable by AI agents and developers through a public API. Launched today with official Google Chrome WebMCP demos, the registry is open to all submissions.

WebMCP is a new W3C standard that lets websites expose structured tools for AI agents directly in the browser — no scraping, no brittle DOM automation.

The spec authors listed "Tool discoverability" as an unsolved limitation: agents have no way to know which sites have tools without visiting them directly.

So I built the index.

WebMCP Registry is the public discovery layer for the WebMCP ecosystem: → Submit your domain and tool contracts

→ Verify ownership via DNS

→ Tools become searchable by agents and developers via public API

It went live today. Currently seeded with the official Google Chrome WebMCP demos. Open to all submissions.

If you're building on WebMCP or just watching the agent web evolve — this is infrastructure worth knowing about.
